The Story of the Cheong-dae Times in September and October

The second semester of 2024 has begun. It seems that excitement and nerves always coexist at the beginning of a new semester. I was looking forward to what articles the Cheongdae Times will cover and what activities we will do this semester.

In September, the Cheongdae Times’ effort started with the recruitment of a Cub reporter. We recruited Cub reporter for two weeks. Our new Cub reporter, who will be our Cheongdae Times’ reporter, is a student in the Department of Aviation Service. 
Before the new member joined us, we consisted of reporters from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Health and Medical Sciences. Thanks to the new reporter, we could deliver the Department of Aviation’s news, before we had never covered.

Unlike the first semester, there were few school events in which many students participated like Uam-Daedongjae festival in the second semester. So we had many concerns about selecting the subject of the first articles. Our reporters struggled for a long time to select a special article subject. To solve this problem, we decided to find something that changed from last semester. 
As the first change, we heard that a new hybrid classroom was created at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and students were taught in a new way. As a second change, a cafe on the second floor of the library has started this semester, which had not been used until last semester. We decided to cover these two changes and capture students' experiences with the new classroom and library cafe.

While we were looking for what else to cover, I had tea time with the director. The director told me a lot of interesting stories about our school and provided various ideas for the materials for the articles. There is a garden behind our university's cultural center. There is a path that connects to this garden, and most people in our university may not know it. 
I thought I knew most places in the school now, but it was amazing that there was a new space that I didn't know about. Based on the idea that the director told us, we searched for more hidden spaces in our school.

Also, through the tea time with the director, we learned how to cover articles that we have not attempted so far. The director suggested the  Cheongdae Times be a communication channel so that students could share their interesting experiences with other students. 
Through the director's idea, I came to realize a new way to cover. In the meantime, we just looked for the subject of the article by guessing what kind of school news the classmates would want to know. I thought I should create a correspondence page on the Cheongdae Times website for those who want to report their stories to write about their experience.

Even though we struggled to find article subjects at first, after all, our reporters found good subjects. I am very proud of our reporters, because they always cover interesting news beyond what I expected. 

We have more news except what I mentioned in No.236 articles. Sports competition, each department’s festival, bio-pride sharing university, Cheongju University Metaverse, Department introduction comparison and program, international exchange in the UK, the Chungbuk Global Overseas Training Support Project, and interviews with Professor Cho Han-chul of the Department of Video and Film.

Cheongdae Times had a pretty rough time in September. How about October?

We have a big event ahead in October. We are preparing for an in-person snack event for the first time. The biggest problem we had was that many students didn’t know about Cheongdae Times. Publicizing and promoting the existence of the Cheongdae Times was the biggest homework. 
As I was designated as the editor-in-chief, I considered promoting Cheongdae Times as the top priority. In the first semester, a cafe coupon event for promoting was held. It was an online application event. As the event was held online, the participation rate was lower than I expected. Therefore, I thought we needed to proceed with the event in person.

This is my first time doing face-to-face events, so I have to prepare many things. Also, I was worried about whether I could successfully host the event. Even though I had many worries about the events, for promoting Cheongdae Times, this event was absolutely necessary. Through this snack event, I hope many students will learn about the existence of the Cheongdae Times and read the articles we publish.

What goal is the Chungdae Times working towards in November? I hope that many students pay a lot of attention and support to the Chungdae Times.
